Karen In Prague, Czech Republic
Prague is dark. Gloomy. And sinister. Not always. Only when it wants to be. This is probably why I got interested about this place. It's a city with its own personality. Its own brand. Colorful yet dark. Exuding warmth yet cold. As the infamous literary qoute goes...
" walking around Prague is comparable to a fairytale: except for one minor detail: it's real"
Despite the lack of snow when I traveled there late February, it was cold and chilly. But I enjoyed Prague that way. So much that I felt like it purposely lured me into the heart of its bosoms.
I've heard of Prague often being compared to Paris. In some ways, I agree- just like Paris, I absolutely fell in love with Prague. I traveled there on my own in search of peace, quietness and wanting to be alone. And that is what I got from visiting Prague. It's breathtaking. It's magnificent. It's beside a river. It has a castle on top of a hill, just like Paris has a church on top of a hill too. There are a lot of towers where you can admire the beauty of Prague from above.
But in most ways, Prague is distinctly unique from Paris. While Paris is distinctively white in architecture, Prague is more colorful. It is filled with colorful homes, buildings, cafes, churches and restaurants. It is a mixture of gothic and medieval architecture that both blend together in a beautiful way.
Another reason why it is a good choice to visit Prague is because it is fairly cheap. It is not an expensive city like London or Paris. Hotel rooms, food, transportation, tours- everything much cheaper than any other larger cities in Europe.
Here are some of the beautiful sites of Prague:
Prague Old Town Square
Prague Astronomical Clock
Charles Bridge
Wander through the streets of Prague
The architectures are incredible!
I only had to spend three days in Prague to appreciate its beauty and charm. Visiting this city was an experience I will never forget.
