Hubby Blogs: You Know You're Married To A Filipina When...
I'm guessing a lot of you have read or heard of that long hilarious list going around the internet on "you know you are married to a Filipina when.."
I came across videos on you-tube about this topic and one night before going to bed, I had mustered the courage to ask my husband this question. We were in bed watching this TV series on Netflix that we are both hooked up on and I just suddenly blurted out the question. "Baby, if I was going to ask you, if you can name a couple of things that will tell you that you are married to a Filipina, what would they be?" He looked at me funny and said, "Babe, I don't want us to argue." and gave me a naughty smile. I could not hold my reaction and I squeezed the answer out of him until he finally did.
This list starts with a note " this is written by an American guy who loves his Filipina wife despite the following peculiarities"
-Filipinas sulk for days on end or what they call 'matampuhin'. If she's upset with you or something, she can sit on it for a while and you have to make the first move.
-The moment you get married, you instantly have 1,000 relative that you can never tell apart
-You are expected to be able to read her mind just by looking at the movement of her eyebrows and by which way her lips are pointed
-they use an umbrella when it's really sunny and bright outside as they are conscious of getting dark complexion (my wife is guilty of that!)
-they normally use a spoon and fork
-you literally have rice everyday although my wife rarely cooks it lately because she wants to cut down with carbs and I was amazed at this thing called rice cooker. I have never known anything that cooks rice perfectly
-you find that you are always on the hunt for the best exchange rate for money that they send home
-they get a certain accent when they get pissed off and talk really fast it's hard to understand
-the spaghetti she cooks is sweet and the sauce is already mixed with the pasta with bits of hot dogs in it
-you are spoiled with her cooking because she cooks really good food
-She may only tell you I LOVE YOU once in a while, (maybe not enough for you) but she loves you and SHOWS you that SHE LOVES YOU IN EVERYTHING SHE DOES
.....and the list can go on
XOXO,
Karen
