10 Ways I'm Bettering Myself In 2019
2019, you came in like a hurricane. I cannot believe 2018 is over and done with and it's an entirely new year. To many out there, its a time to round up your new year's resolutions, make a new bucket list, set up goals you want to achieve and the list can go on. And I am going to be honest, we don't really go through each of them and we end up making it another new year's resolution for the next year. Yes, I am one of you guys. And it's OK. We can't and don't always accomplish things the way we want them in a timely manner. Life happens and more often than not, we get sidetracked with other things that happen in our everyday lives.

This year, there are so many different aspects in my life that I wish to improve but I am trying to specifically stay away from the word 'goals' because it tends to add unnecessary anxiety to my life and I just wanted to make it a little different this year. I feel therapeutic writing about this blog. I feel like there is a surge of excitement and motivation coming over me and I certainly hope it will keep me accountable as I navigate through 2019.
1. Exercise more- I used to run and exercise when I get really motivated and then, winter comes and things get cold and slow...and I tend to forget to do my exercise. Excuses! Excuses! Excuses! This year, I want to make sure I get to exercise at least 3-4 times a week
2. Focus on my marriage- I have an amazing husband who is a blessing in my life. I am incredibly independent that sometimes I forget that I am no longer living just for myself. I want to continuously work to improve my marriage and show my husband unconditional love, honor and respect.
3. Read at least 2 books in a month- I am a book lover and even if all I wanted to do was just stay in bed and read, I have other important things to do. Like have a life. Hahaha! But I am going back to the habit of reading at least 2 books in a month and I already have a list of books I want to get and start reading for this year.
4. Travel- I love to travel. I cannot say anything more. I plan to travel with my husband more this year and just thinking about it makes me excited. I want to share this passion with him and experience adventures with him through travelling.
5. Up my water intake- I will strive to do whatever it takes to to get some more water in my diet. I have been infusing fruits in my water so that way I am more motivated to have some more water intake.
6. Learn to control my emotions- Uncontrolled emotions especially anger can get you in a lot of trouble not to mention stress and more often than not, you say things that you regret later on. I want to gain control over my feelings to allow me to keep a level head and think more rationally. When me and my husband have an argument, I always, for the most part let my emotions get the best part of me and this year I would like to be better than that.
7. Complete a 'no-spend' challenge- This year I will try and do a non-spending challenge for at least 3 months. No online shopping, no impulsive buying.
8. Add X amount of dollars to my monthly savings- I want to save up some more for important future goals and achieve financial freedom for me and my husband.
9. Create a positive attitude- Having a positive attitude opens your mind to new possibilities, it makes you more resilient and helps you live longer. This is one thing I want to achieve and hopefully, this year.
10. Get back to my love for photography- In the past two years I have not given enough time for my passion which is photography and my camera has been sitting and collecting dust long enough already. This year, I would like to spend time doing what I love and one of it is photography. Taking pictures relaxes me and helps me to be more creative and inspired.
XOXO,
Karen
