The Best Gift I have Ever Received- My Wedding Ring

Wedding rings are a daily reminders of the promises you made on the most important day of your lives.

Engagement rings symbolizes the formal agreement to get married. Wedding bands however represent the promise you make to each other on your wedding day. The flowers will fade, the cakes will be eaten, and the dress packed away, but your wedding bands will continue to shine as symbols of your commitment to each other.

While the designs of wedding rings become more and more modern in many cases, the tradition and symbolism of a wedding ring is as strong today as it has always been.

What do wedding rings represent?

The wedding ring is an emblem of love through time, a symbol of devotion and an agreement between two people to love and cherish one another for the rest of their lives. A circle has no beginning and and end and therefore represents infinity. It is endless and eternal, just as the love should be. For many, the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. This is because the vein in this finger is believed to lead directly to the wearer's heart.

Depending on what metal type you like, wedding rings are now available in gold, white gold, sliver, rose gold and even platinum. I personally love yellow gold for my wedding ring. It's considered the traditional pick for wedding rings but I like mine with diamonds on it as opposed to the plain gold band. Not that I am saying plain bands are not good but it's just a personal choice. They are actually still worn by active people and people who are on the go who need a ring that can easily be kept clean.

Like I said, I like mine with diamonds in it. Wedding rings that are decorated with precious stones are just as historic a practice as the use of the wedding ring itself. Diamond wedding rings are a popular choice because of their beauty and significance. Diamonds have been associated with eternity because of their enduring nature and strength. This makes them the perfect stone to symbolize love between married couples.

My husband's wedding ring is a simple white gold band with yellow gold strand right in the middle of it. He chose this type of style because he works a lot with his hands and it is convenient and easy to keep clean. While it is a personal choice on which type of metal we want or design we love for our wedding rings, let us not forget the true symbolism behind wearing them-the never ending love and devotion that two people agreed to each other. To love and cherish, to love and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do you part.

XOXO,

Karen
