Easter Sun-date With The Hubby

Easter holds its roots in the Christian faith and tradition as a remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The week before Easter, also known as the Passion week, Jesus was preparing for his death. He rode into Jerusalem, the center of the Jewish faith on a donkey and hundreds of people greeted and honored him recognizing him as the King of their faith. They laid down their garments and waved palm leaves shouting 'Hossana!" a Greek word that expresses praise and adoration.

The following week was the darkest in the Christian faith. Jesus was put to trial for blasphemy and was sentenced to death by Pontious Pilate. So if Jesus died, why is it GOOD? It is good because it meant the salvation of men. Jesus offered his life for us men and for the redemption of our sins. As he was on the cross, every sin in the world that have ever been and ever will be was placed upon Jesus that day. It was because of His death that we are saved from our sins so that we could live a life of purity.

It is on Easter Sunday when Jesus' tomb was discovered empty without His body. It is on Easter Sunday that Jesus rose from the dead and an angel appeared from the tomb telling the disciples of His resurrection!

So to celebrate this Easter Sunday, me and my husband attended Sunday church service at our local church and shared this day with other people who shared the same faith. It was a humbling moment to hear the homily about how Easter means to the Catholic faith and how we are given a second chance for a new life when Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sins.
