WWKD? (What Would Karen Do?)

If you were the perfect version of yourself, what would you do?

I have encountered this question once when I was reading an article from a lifestyle magazine and it got me intrigued. Stunned. Absolutely speechless. And I felt like this is one question I do not have an answer to, or at least not until I really think about it. If it was Boy Abunda's fast talk, I would have looked stupid because I wouldn't have witty and snappy answers to it. If he would have asked me to face his 'magic mirror' and ask myself this question, I would have been perfectly fazed.

Does the perfect version of yourself sleep in until noon? Does the perfect version of yourself spend hours straight looking at Instagram and stalking other people's feeds? Does the perfect version of yourself eat fast food and live on soda or coffee?

If you want to be that person and that is your idea of a perfect self, then by all means go for it! You've certainly gotten the habits down to a T! (sarcasm here! wink!) But seriously, do what you gotta do to be the best you.

Honestly, for me personally though, I don't want to do all those things. (although i'm not saying i haven't done one or two of those in the past) The perfect version of myself would definitely not stand for that. What you do, you become. What you think, you manifest. You are your own biggest project.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Act like the person you wish to be. Sounds easy but when you think of it, it can be a daunting task. With all of the influences that we are constantly exposed to on social media, politics and everyday life, sometimes it's too hard to actually find yourself. As a matter of fact, it can almost be too easy to be somebody else. To want to live somebody else's life. But if you were the best version of yourself, what would you be doing?

Asking myself this question helped me a lot to taking steps forward to becoming my best version of myself and becoming the person I want to be. I can't say I'm there yet nor have I achieved the perfect version of myself yet but I am taking the simple steps towards it.

I have...

* been doing the things i love to do.writing and photography

* been drinking more water

* been more open with my feelings

* been more in control of my feelings

* been more grateful of little things

* exercised more often

* gone to bed and woken up earlier

* learned to let go of trivial things

We all have our different ways to do things. You wanting to be the best version of yourself might have different set of steps you want to take to achieve it. But whatever they are, be sure it's taking you to a positive direction.

Take time to envision the person you want to be. Not what you think other people would want you to be. Not what you think will make you most attractive, desirable/whatever. If change is inevitable, by all means go through it. CHANGE is good if you are doing it for yourself. Don't change just because other people expect you to. If you are modelling your actions after what the society dictates and wants you to be, then you are most likely just going to be digging yourself a deeper hole.

When you take steps to be the best possible you, better things will start to happen because you are listening to your inner wisdom. When you start to do something you feel oddly about, just ask yourself, what would the best version of you do?

You can be the best person you've always wanted to be, starting today!

XOXO,

Karen
