Baby It's Cold Outside- What To Do When You're Stuck In A Cold Weather Rut

Freezing temperatures. Cold and short days. Dry skin. Winter can be a serious drag. What's to like right? But don't let the frigid days get the best of you!

I understand that it's easier to just stay under the warm covers and cozy up in bed when the temperatures outside are so friggin' cold. But instead of hibernating and just longing and imagining warmer days and complaining of the arctic conditions outside your door, why not find ways to embrace the cold?

Living in Wisconsin the last couple of years have been a struggle- for- real- kind of thing. It's a cold state and we get more colder winters than most of the country. At first it always got me into a depressing mode. I was just not used to this kind of weather conditions even if I've lived a good three years of my life in London. I had to do something about it and not let it get to me. I didn't want to waste the time of day doing nothing and getting stuck in the cold so I found helpful ways to bring some 'sunshine and warmth' to an otherwise grey and cold day.

Go shopping!

Yes! Definitely yes!

When you look good, you feel good! And this time of the year is the best time for winter sales and post-holiday sales are everywhere this time of the year. This makes a great time to find awesome deals for coats and sweaters which of course is much needed in those wintery days.

Eat!

It's the perfect season for soups, stews and hot cocoa! And nothing takes the winter chill away than a hot, comforting food. My crackpot is my best friend during this time. I just throw in some ingredients and a healthy meal is ready to warm us up on a cold day.

Get Moving!

Moving around and getting those muscles to work will help you burn extra calories thus providing warmth too.Clean up your room, sort out your pantry, fold your linens- whatever. Anything that can be considered moving and mobile even if it's house chores is definitely going to make up for staying indoors.

Enjoy a hot cup of your favorite drink

The winter season makes us all want to snuggle up in a cozy blanket with a hot cup of our favorite drink in hand. Mine would be hot chocolate or my favorite tea. Whatever yours is, I'm definitely sure it's going to warm you up and forget the chilly temperatures outside.

Read a book you have been putting up for later.

This is the time to finally take that book that you have been putting out for later. With that hot cup of your favorite drink and that book in hand, I'm sure staying home for the day because of that cold weather is going to be worth it.

Stay warm!

XOXO,

Karen
