Sunday Mornings
Stillness, truly is a commodity that one should treasure. And one of the few times it shows itself, is during the first moments of the day. Though I'm not a proclaimed morning person (i hate alarm clocks, hate waking up early-but i do- because it's the 'adult' thing to do) once I manage to pry open my eyes, let the light soak in, and indulge in my first cup of hot tea - those moments that follow are actually quite pleasant when the day's rush can be put on hold.
Weekends at home? - don't even get me started. My daytime wardrobe is lucky if it finds me. Lazy, you say? Comfy, I answer. With the chaos that CORONA virus is causing everybody on a global, massive scale, we have all been asked to stay home and maintain social distancing as well as avoid being outside unnecessarily, me and the hubby are trying to stay safe and stay healthy. Let's stop complaining. I know it can be stressful and anxieties are levelling up, all with being cooped up at home, people getting laid off from work, and our daily lives being disrupted. But we have to do this for everybody. Let's stop being selfish and start thinking of everyone around us. Think about it as a massive cooperation for the betterment of a collective whole.
There are a lot of ways we can spend our days at home and still be productive. Use this time to get caught up with things that need to be done that you have been putting away for the longest time like cleaning or sorting out your closet, organising your pantry or cleaning your kitchen. Also, make use of this time to read that book you have been meaning to read or call your parents, family members or friends you haven't been in touch with for a while. If you have kids and they're home because school has already been suspended, take advantage of this time to be with them and enjoy activities that will create bonding and education at the same time. Teach them how to cook a meal, clean their rooms and pick up after themselves. Maybe teach them how to use simple tools or do house chores. Teaching does not have to just occur at school. If you're single, take this time to something productive. Work on that project you have been intending to do. Or learn a new recipe and enjoy the meal you cook. For couples out there, there are a lot of things you can do together too, like finish a house project, renovate or redecorate your living room or bedroom. Learn a new language together...play monopoly. Point is, there are a lot of things I'm sure you can occupy your time with.
So anyways, what I'm trying to say is that, staying home for me these days is something I treasure. With having a full time job, spending a day off at home can be a luxury. It's my time to recuperate mentally and emotionally after hours at work and also rest my body. So when I'm at home I make sure I spend that time with the hubby if he has the day off too. But if he happens to be working, I conveniently use the time to pamper myself. I start the day with making me a nice healthy breakfast and taking all my supplements for the day. Yes, I do take a couple of supplements and I have really been into a healthy lifestyle. Then I take long warm baths and indulge in my bath soaps and bath oils. Sometimes I do my own 'at home' foot spa to relax and massage my sore feet from working all day and then I usually pick up a good book to read while I burn my scented candles. Otherwise, I cleanse my brain by doing my weekly planning. I decorate it and make it functional at the same time, I'm sure that I have my stuff planned for the coming week.
Stay safe everyone. Please continue to practise all safety measures as possible and we can all get through this. Better days are going to come.
XOXO,
Karen
