6 Ways To Improve Your Mood

Reinventing yourself is not easy. I get it. Lots of things to consider, major changes will be done and more often than not, it's easier said than done.

I don't even know if "mood" is the right terminology to use here, but that's what I ended up here so might as well go with it. So far, I've realized that as much as we've come leaps and bounds in our effort to talk about mental illness, there's still a lot of discomfort around depression and stress, Regardless of why you're feeling a bit down and under the weather, happiness and self love are essential ingredients for mental clarity. Remember that small changes add up to make all the difference!

Now let's get started with simple ways to help boost spirits and keep that stress at bay.

1. Take Control Of Your Time

It's not easy to get out of stress if you live in a whirlwind of projects, a full time job, relationship and everything in between. Right in the middle of all life's blunders, sometimes you will feel that you have lost control of time. It's time to say NO! Take back control of your time. Don't isolate yourself. Find the balance between work, your social life and "me-time". Setting goals and lists and recording your actions keep you accountable and in control-your girl uses a planner! You all know I'm a planner addict and it helps me achieve my daily tasks and goals.

2. Dress For Success

This should not be a surprise to all of you but I follow a "look good, feel good " policy. But to be totally honest, it goes beyond just your outfit. Make your bed in the morning. SMILE. Watch a Youtube channel and try a new hairstyle or make up tutorial. Put on a pair of heels! Look good and feel good!

3. Track The Good Stuff

Journal. Plan and write. Take note of the things you have and be grateful of the blessings you have. Gratitude always bring you happiness and humbles you. Make "to do" lists in the morning and cross off the things that were accomplished during the day.

4. Schedule Exercise

Exercise releases hormones in the body that improves our mood and health. It's truly amazing when I can actually get off my butt and get moving! It's the simplest confidence boost! You just feel purposeful and a part of this crazy world we live in. Go for a run. Practice yoga, walk your dog, lift some weights...whatever rocks your boat, do it! And don't just think it. I find it more effective if I write down and schedule my exercise activity on my planner. It works for me, it might work for you too!

5. Treat Yo Self

Actually do something that helps you. Ya, you might binge on Netflix and munch on your comfort food but what I'm trying to say is actually do something that benefits you. Enjoy a bath of epsom salt, block off time for a meditation or a walk.Read a book. Spend on something to empower yourself with a new skill or a hobby. Go to to the doctor or dentist or chiropractor that you've been putting off and give yourself the gift of good health. Self love, people! It's a powerful thing!

6. Stay Away From Negativity

There should be no room for negativity in our lives. Stay away from negative people who are trying to bring you down. Life is short. Life is a cycle. Be happy. Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from negativity. Free your mental space from negativity and you'll start to see the world in a more encouraging and positive light.

I really hope you this blog helps you and encourages you to take action to better yourself. Be happy!

XOXO,

Karen
