Embracing Silence - Why It's Important To Disconnect
Our lives are so noisy that it often feels like we have background noise following us everywhere we go. Total silence ends up feeling almost weird for some of us because we become so used to the noise around us.
Sure, it's fine to play some music on TV or on the radio while you do some things. But you want to be more mindful of the noise in your life and make sure you set aside some quiet time, without any noise.
Here are some things I found beneficial to enjoying a little bit of silence.
FIND PEACE
Setting aside time to enjoy the silence and find peace and quiet will help your mind find the calm and peace it definitely needs. You need to give your brain and body that much needed time to calm down and recuperate and that is not fully capable with constant noise. After the quiet time, you will feel rested and your brain is ready to take on new challenges!
THINK CLEARER
Have you ever experienced brain fog?
Stress and noise of our everyday activities can fog our brains and make it nearly impossible it focus. Setting aside quiet time for your self and for some silence and reflection can help clear your mind and organize your thoughts.
EXPERIENCE MINDFULNESS
Sitting in quiet reflection time also allows you to practice mindfulness. This way you are more intentional with your time and with your thoughts. Sitting in complete silence does amazing things for your mind and body. You can really get in tune with your thoughts, emotions and intentions. Use this time to connect and reflect and just be.
Distractions are a cause of major stress in in our lives and dealing with a lot of things at a time can really take a toll on our mental, emotional and even our physical well-being.
It is therefore important to disconnect ourselves from these distractions from time to time to give our body and mind time to heal and slow down. Embracing silence will definitely be beneficial.
Disconnect.
Embrace silence.
