Karen In Copenhagen, Denmark- My Scandinavian Adventures

As much I loved and enjoyed all my European travels, I felt a strong urge to visit the Scandinavia. So I decided to add Scandinavia to the bucket list and traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark.

Copenhagen is a wonderful place to wander about. It's easy for someone who speaks English and it is safe to explore if you travel solo. This city has been known to be one of the happiest places in the world. Even upon arriving to a cold dreary city mid April of 2016, I quickly realised why.

Copenhagen is clean, beautiful and even more beautiful than in photos. It is rich in culture, architectures, art and history going back to the Medieval ages. From colorful buildings to museums, delicious food and beautiful people, Copenhagen is arguably a place full of idyllic charm.

Here are the reasons why I think Copenhagen is amazing and why I think you should visit too!

The architecture- I'm a sucker for colorful buildings and if you are too, you will go crazy in Copenhagen. Bright colors are everywhere you go. It's every photographer or instagrammers dream. Every neighborhood has an architectural charm to it.

Nyahavn- New Harbor Copenhagen

The Frederiksborg Palace

The Gefion Fountain

The food- I honestly did not know what to expect about Danish cuisine. But I ate at a nice restaurant at the Nyahavn and I had their house special which was shrimp scampi. It was so delicious I almost forgot we were dining in the outside area in the cold!

The museums- There are a lot of museums in Copenhagen ranging from art to history, to just about anything in between.

NY CARLSBERG GLYPTOTEK

This gallery has a really interesting series of contemporary exhibits and I got the chance to visit this museum. The pieces showcased sculptures from the ancient cultures of the Greek mythology, Egyptian and Roman and all of them are life sized magnificent art. The museum was built around the personal collection of Carl Jacobsen, the son of the founder of the Cralsberg Breweries.

The canal cruise- Lots of tourists do the canal cruise. It's not just a good way to explore the city but the tour is really informative and interesting.

The Nyahavn, New Harbour- This place was originally a port but now it is famous among tourists as well as locals for its restaurants, cafes and bars. The area has a relaxed atmosphere and is a great place to grab something to eat and listen to some jazz music.

The Rosenborg Castle Gardens- The oldest and most visited parks in central Copenhagen. It was the private gardens of King Christian IV. One of the most beautiful castles I've seen, the Rosenborg Castle is a magnificent palace that plays host to temporary exhibitions and art galleries.

Church Of Our Saviour- One of Copenhagen's main attractions set in Christianshavn that is also worth visiting. It has a helix spire with an external winding staircase that you can climb to the top for a more impressive view of Copenhagen.

The Little Mermaid Statue- Copenhagen is home to the bronze statue by Edvard Eriksen depicting a mermaid. Based on the fairy tale of the same name by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, the small and unimposing statue is a Copenhagen icon and has been a major tourist attraction.

Overall, I loved everything Copenhagen. My travel experience to this amazing city will be as memorable as the rest of my travels.
