Karen In Singapore - Visiting The Lion City

There's no other place like Singapore. It is amazing in its own right. Located just off the Southern area of Malaysia, this vibrant city boasts a beautiful blend of Malaysian, Indian, Chinese , Arab and English cultures.

As a city-state, Singapore is both the country and its capital. If I could choose three words to describe this country, it would be spotless, sophisticated but expensive. It's hard to tell that today, this tiny booming Asian country speckled with high rise buildings and posh shopping malls was once a colonial backwater. I must admit that there is an awful lack of natural resources in this place however they are compensated by a wealth of jaw-dropping man made attractions like theme parks and super malls, reason why countless foreigners including Filipinos travel to Singapore.

While Singapore is a small country, there is an endless choice of things to do and tourist spots to visit. It has a remarkable amount of must-see neighborhoods and places to visit.

The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is an efficient and affordable way to get around the city. I must say I was quite impressed at how this city is so clean. The streets are clean and they maintain the parks, roads and train stations to look nice, clean and orderly. Singaporean's are disciplined and they have rules and regulations that they follow to heart.I almost want to wish that we are the same way no matter which city we are.

If you have ever seen pictures of Singapore, you have likely seen shots of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. An iconic building of Singapore skyline that famous among local and international tourists. The Marina Bay Sands complex enormous, not to mention the hotel itself. It would be easy to lose perspective when you're looking at pictures of the MBS from across the bay, but each of the three towers is 58 stories tall, connected on top by a massive Skypark.

Also one of Singapore's tourist spots is the famous Universal Studios. It is a great place to bring the family and kids would definitely enjoy the place. Of course, adults can also find their own entertainment as they offer shows and activities for the older buy young at heart. I particularly enjoyed the time I has at the Universal studios walking around shops and shops of chocolates and candies. I felt like a little kid again. Like Gretel inside the witch's candy house!

As one of Southeast Asia's fascinating spots,Singapore is a diverse island country that has something of interest for every traveler. It is definitely not the easiest on the pocket though. Personally, I think it should not hold you back from visiting this country as I'm sure there are a lot of ways to travel on a budget but still enjoy what Singapore has to offer.
