My Traditional Tartan Plaid Christmas Tree
Every year since moving to the US, I select a theme for my Chritmas Tree decorations. This year I chose to put up a traditional tartan plaid with red and gold Christmas theme. I wanted it to be the classic look and just enjoy all of my plaid and red ornaments.
Putting up the tree is an activity I most certainly look forward to every year. I know that here in the US, most people wait for Thanksgiving to be over before they put up theur Christmas Trees or any other hristmas decorations. I do respect that, but if I want my tree up way before that, I will certainly do it. Growing up in the Phillippines, where we are known for celebrating Christmas the longest, I am used to decorating as early as the 'ber' months start!
Picking up my ornaments to go with this year's theme was an exciting experience. I usually shop for my decorations and ribbons in a couple of places and when I see something that is pretty and will go with my theme, I most certain to pick it up. Knowing what sort of style and color pattern you want for your tree, does help a lot with picking out the ornaments and decorations to put up.
A Christmas Tree is not complete without the gifts under it. As much as I love putting up my tree I also love gift giving and personally wrapping them I love to match my gifts aesthetically to my tree so I opted for plain red paper and tartan plaid ribbons to go with it.
But more than the gifts we have wrapped under the tree, what's more important and valuable are the gift of family, friends, experiences and lessons in life. Let us not forget that amidst the colorful and joyful facade of the holidays, there is and will only be one reason for the season...and that is Christ the King was born!
Merry Christmas!
XOXO,
Karen
